The result is a luxury made to last: a set that wears in over decades of play and gets handed down. How It Works
Four steps, one beautiful set.
Plain or inlaid
Decide how the chip face is finished: plain clay, or a printed full-color inlay molded into the body. Inlays need artwork — the Design Tool is the easiest way to make it — but you don't need it finished to place an order.
Mold, colors & spots
Pick a rim mold design, body colors from the chart, and optional edge spots. Each choice affects the price — the Design Tool shows everything live, including spot levels and pricing.
Email your order
All orders are placed by email or our contact form — attach your Designer output or share link. Custom orders are paid 100% up front, then proofed; you can still change colors or design at the proof stage.
We press & ship
Molds run in rotation by paid demand, so custom clay orders take roughly 3 to 12 months. Clay takes a long time to prepare — don't wait on final artwork to get in the queue.
Mold Designs
18 mold designs, in 39mm and 44mm.
The mold is the pattern cast into the rim of the chip — the signature of a real clay chip. Price tiers refer to the price list. Crown molds, FDL, and 44mm A-Crest produce smooth inlays; all other molds texture the inlay to some degree.

44mm oversize chips price on their own rows of the price list, and 39mm and 44mm chips can't be combined in one order. Inlay sizes other than those recommended can be requested, but we can't guarantee they'll look as nice.
Color Chart
All 38 clay colors.
Every color is still mixed from scratch to formulas handed down since the 1960s — the factory presses roughly one color a day, rotating through the chart by demand. Weighted colors carry no lead — they're weighted with fine brass powder (about 8.5g per chip; unweighted clays run about 8g). Dayglo bodies add 17¢ per chip and are best loved as edge spots. Retro colors recreate the unweighted clays of the 1940s. Swatches below are rendered by our Chip Studio visualizer with its calibrated clay palette (screens still vary); order the 38-color sample set to see them in hand.

Edge Spots
The signature of a custom set.
Edge spots are contrasting clay pressed into the rim — not painted, not printed. Patterns are organized by level: the price grid covers solid chips through Level 5, and complex patterns from Level 6 to Level 17 add a flat premium per chip. The Design Tool labels every pattern with its level, e.g. “(L3)”.
Describing a chip the CPC way: body color first, then spot count and size, then spot colors, then artwork, then mold. For example: “Black 312 Dayglo Green, printed center, on the Horsehead mold” — where “312” means three 1/2″ edge spots.
Pie patterns: the construction of pie-spot chips means 50% come with the dovetails in one color and 50% reversed. This affects plain (non-inlaid) pie chips.
Inlays & Artwork
Full-color centers, molded in.
A printed inlay is protected by clear PVC vinyl and molded directly into the body of the chip — not a sticker. Circular inlays come in three sizes (7/8″, 1″, and 1-1/16″; see each mold's recommendation above), and seven shaped-inlay varieties are available at a premium.
The easiest way: design your inlays in our Design Tool. Its inlay tools show the exact printable area, bleed and punch line for every size and shape, handle curved text, fonts, gradients and your own logos, and export a print-ready CMYK proof file with each inlay on its own layer. Your inlay set drops straight onto your chips, so you can see the finished set before you order.
Prefer your own artwork? Custom artwork templates are available in Adobe Illustrator and PDF formats — they show the punch line, bleed and printable circle for each inlay size and shape. Supply finished art in Illustrator if possible (Photoshop or high-resolution JPG may incur a conversion fee depending on complexity). Simple in-house designs start at $50 per order; for complex or multiple designs we'll refer you to our freelance designers, who work with you directly.
Pricing
What a custom chip costs.
Three choices set the price: the mold, the edge-spot level (Solid = no spots, Level 1–5 and up), and whether the chip is plain or inlaid — plus a few premiums. Per-chip prices, 300-chip minimum.
Plain chips
from $1.35
Solid-color chip on a group A mold. Rises with mold group (A–D) and spot level, to $4.00 at Level 5 on a group D mold. 44mm oversize chips run higher.
Inlaid chips
from $1.90
Full-color printed center, molded in. Same mold and level structure as plain, to $4.39 at Level 5 on a group D mold. Shaped inlays carry a premium over the three round sizes.

Ordering & Terms
Minimums, payment, delivery & shipping.
Minimums. 300 chips minimum, with up to 3 unique chips per 300 (4 in 400, 5 in 500, and so on). 39mm and 44mm orders can't be combined. Orders with multiple quantities of 50 or below may attract a wastage premium. Add-ons and re-orders are evaluated case by case and lowered where possible.
Payment. 100% up front for all custom orders, by credit/debit card, PayPal, check, or wire transfer. Electronic payments carry a 3.5% fee (5.5% for international shipping or billing addresses), which is non-refundable.
Delivery. Every chip is handmade to order and molds run in rotation by paid demand, so custom orders take roughly 3 to 12 months depending on mold and quantity. Colors are mixed from scratch in rotation too, so a finished order can wait on a single edge-spot color — that's the nature of small-batch clay. Ask which molds are scheduled, but waiting until yours is about to run is usually too late because of clay preparation time. All delivery estimates are subject to change.
Shipping. Chip-only orders up to roughly 600–800 chips ship USPS Priority Mail; larger orders ship UPS Ground (UPS Air for international). Other orders ship by the cheapest suitable method unless requested otherwise. Shipping and handling are added to your invoice at cost.
Returns. Custom orders can't be returned. Stock sets: 15% re-stocking fee, returned unused in original packaging within 14 days; see the store terms.
